I have a Propero 2 cycling helmet which is now circa 8/9 years old so probably needs replacing.

Obviously technology has moved on with MIPs, aero etc.

Tried the Propero 3 which is a good fit and slightly more compact than my curreny helemt. It has many of the Prevail 2 features but on a budget.

The Prevail 2 is the S-Works non-aero model for hot days and climbing. They also have the Prevail 2 Vent which offers more airflow.

The Evade 2 is the S-Works aero option.

All the above have MIPs and Angi (Crash sensor).

I only want to buy one helmet.

1) Is an aero helmet worth it?

2) Would the Evade 2 be too hot in the summer?

3) Is the Prevail 2 worth an extra £100 over a Propero 3?

Interested to hear from those who have a Prevail 2 or Evade 2.

Thanks for any input.

I have both the Evade and the Prevail.

The Evade feels very nicely made: almost all the outer polystyrene is covered, the magnetic clip works brilliantly and there is (relatively speaking) a slight “heft” about it which makes it feel like a quality item. It’s also quite compact around the head, looking less like the mushroom dude from Super Mario World. The Prevail in comparison feels lighter, but also a little cheaper with it, there being a lot of exposed polystyrene.

What slight aero advantages there may be (can’t say I’ve ever noticed!) to the Evade however are trumped by the Propels better ventilation: it’s significantly cooler. Way, way more comfortable in the summer heat particularly on long climbs. As soon as the sun comes out it’s the Propel every time for me.

The ANGi system is a load of st. Never really got it to work from day one: failing to connect, failing to maintain connection, just not waking up etc, etc.

Thanks Jimbo, just the feedback I wanted.

Feeling that the aero won't make that much difference, where as keeping cool will probably help energy levels.

I hae an evade 1 and somebody asked me if it's not too hot and I actually find it's fine all year round, think the lack of vents actually stops the sun blazing down and hitting your head on days like today, and I'm usually fairly sweaty but it's no problem.

Being a roadie I use the Evade mostly with the Prevail more for hot days and MTBing.
If you are constantly riding over 30kmh the Evade does have aero benefits.
The Evade vents less at lower speeds but over 30kmh it has good flow.
I havent bothered setting up the Angi device.

I have an evade 1 too, in black. I've ridden on extremely hot days and been fine with it. Whether the aero matters is very personal. Do you want to ride as quickly as possible or are you happier riding a little slower? Of all my riding I most enjoy going fast, racing friends.
