Whilst getting my Giant Defy Advanced 2 serviced at my local indy this week I spotted an Orro in the various stands around his shop. It was very pretty.

Now, what are everyone's thoughts on this?

https://www.orrobikes.com/shop/2021-venturi-sram-f...

I'm coming from a disc 2017 defy with 105 and carbon rp50 prime rims I've added.

Obviously a step up but I've got no experience of SRAM so need some guidance.

Mrs CM7 has an Orro Venturi Di2 tailor made and it’s a really nice, it’d go so far to say it’s a thing of beauty. The only challenge with Orro at the moment is availability, although if your LBS has one it stock I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you pull the trigger.

Yes, it won't be this one that he's got in stock. I checked out the website to see what was available because my next bike will have wireless shifting.
I.e I don't want to go from 105 to Ultegra.

For £1600, the Defy has performed amazingly. Its just time for a change.

Following this with interest...

I'm a new Triathlete - not great at cycling to be honest but trying to get better, recently signing up to Zwift. I have a 6 year old Giant Defy 1 (£800) which is OK, I don't really like it that much to be honest, and always have this urge to change it.

Nowt wrong with a defy, used my defy 2 for my first few triathlons up to 70.3 then upgraded to a defy advanced pro 1 disc for my 40th birthday, done an iron distance, a few standards and 5 70.3s on it.

I then decided that I should be faster so I bought a second hand trinity tt bike. Just didn’t get on with it so a couple of weeks ago I sold it no bought a 2019 giant propel advanced pro 2 with a dura ace di2 upgrade.

Got a standard tri next weekend which I have done twice on a defy, will be interesting to see if the propel is any faster.

Agree completely, in fact I did my second Triathlon today with the Defy 1.

The bike is pretty good. My work has a Cycle To Work scheme of up to £3k, so I am tempted to upgrade now. Especially as I am looking at Olympic distance Triathlons and then a 70.3 early next year.

Good luck with your triathlon next weekend.

The way bike prices are at the moment (crazy) I am not sure £3000 will get much of an upgrade buying new. Not if you want an aero bike.

You will probably find some good bikes discounted to less than £3k but it’s hit and miss as to whether retailers will do sale bikes on cycle to work.

The new boardman looks decent value.

It's a bargain compared to most electric options. Reviewed really well too. Regretting spending so much on an Ultegra di2 upgrade recently.

The orro looks better spec and has more wow factor, but wouldn't be worth the 2k extra and (importantly) 6 month wait time.

I think the Boardman was sold out within 24 hours.

Hasn't someone on the "Show off your bike" thread just got one of those Orros?

Looking at the boardman now.

Don't want an aeror/TT bike, just a normal road bike probably, but with aero bars fitted.

I probably won't get one but just enjoy looking

Cant comment on that bike but I have an Orro Gold STC DI2 and a Terra Gravel and they have both been faultless and are great bikes and brilliant value for money IMO.

I am looking for another Gold to use as a winter bike now.

That’s me smile have just posted on the other thread, so won’t repeat here. I guess the only thing I’d add is that my last (and first) road bike was a Boardman Road Team Carbon which was perfectly good, but very far from being great. Low rent group set let it down big time. This feels like a huuuugee step up in comparison. In every way. I’d certainly recommend it, but bear in mind I’m very much an occasional rider with the odd sportive thrown in. (This bike might see me venturing out to do more though) HTH

I've got and Orro Venturi. Actually had two. I crashed one...

I've got ultegra di2 and to be honest I think it's hit the sweet spot of vfm. I'm not really sure what bikes at twice the price are offering other than name.

Happy to answer any questions, I love mine. Just ordered some Reynolds carbon wheels for it!

Good to know there are a few happy owners.
What is it like long distance? 60 miles plus? And on hills?
My Lbs will be happy as he's been trying to drag me away from Giant for a while.

On another note, I wish this weather would let up. What a miserable May for cycling.

Yep totally fine long distance. I find it very comfy especially with the 28mm tyres. It excels on undulating terrain or on the flat obviously where its fantastic at maintaining momentum. Very stiff also so feels like you can really put the power down.

Here’s mine packed for a 120 mile ride (Dunwich Dynamo). It was great.

This is my one. Gold Evo 105 Hydro. I’ve had it two weeks covering 324kms including 41k on the cycle home!
I’m enjoying riding it and is so much better to commute on than my aluminium Cannodale flat bar road bike. I’ll fit that now with mud guards to use when it’s wet in the winter.
