Cheap bike parts
Discussion
I recently saved a few bikes from the scrappy but need help finding parts for it.
Hoping some of you cycling veterans will know a place or two online that stocks cheaper parts for me to rebuild what is going to be my main bike.
The bike in question is a Viking Roubaix 200. It needs pedals, the right brake shifter is broken (I think) so maybe somehow needs securing, a seat is required, some brakes and a new chain.
No idea on cost but the cheaper the better really.
Over to you.

Bike parts are harder to find than ever, especially Shimano, due to a number of factors including Covid and Brexit.
I am afraid it's a case of scanning eBay, Amazon, wiggle/chain reaction, Rutland, Demon, Tredz, PlanetX etc ...
If you are prepared to wait I've had mixed success with Wish / Ali but beware of fakes!!
Plus the European cycle shops such as bike-discount.de, not as cheap as they once were and don't forget delivery.

Is it worth it? It was a £200 bike new. Perhaps strip what you can and keep for spares on another bike.Hoping some of you cycling veterans will know a place or two online that stocks cheaper parts for me to rebuild what is going to be my main bike.

Sorry for late response. Forgot about this thread.
Although the bike is cheap, if rather fix and make use of it rather than buy a new one. I want to start by changing the pedals as the is only one on there.
The chain will be next but seems in ok condition. I'll probably just oil it and see how long it lasts.
Tyres are shot and one of the spokes is broken. Probably an easy fix.
Brakes need new pads.
The right great selector thingy is loose.
It's a nice bike for me to learn on and I hope I can fix it as I seemed to be pretty comfortable on it. I had an MTB years ago in my late teens and never had one since, so hoping if I fix it myself, I'll have a decent summer riding bike with the kids.

Cheap enough - SPDs or flat pedals? Halfords will have stock of cheap options, moreso if flats.Although the bike is cheap, if rather fix and make use of it rather than buy a new one. I want to start by changing the pedals as the is only one on there.

Sounds like a sensible option.TotalControl said:

Someone else has mentioned it but check Planet-X bikes. They'll have dirt cheap options for road bikes. Not checked but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have stuff for a tenner an end.TotalControl said:

Another one to have a check on Planet-X for.TotalControl said:

What make/model is it? As someone has mentioned, the Viking is a cheap bike so they might not be a branded make. Are they integrated shifters or are the shifters seperate? If seperate, the levers themselves will be a cheap replacement (might need to do both sides and you'll need to replace the bar tape - again, Planet-X). If integrated, might need to scour ebay as I doubt it'll be 10/11/12 speed either...Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
