Tyre size help!

I bought these for my daughter's bike, which is currently on 26x1.0 tyres:

I wanted something a touch more touring / chunky, and assumed that the difference between 1.0 and 1.75 would be fine - but it's not, they foul the chain stays (they are fine on the front).

Help!

I went through the Wiggle returns procedure a couple of weeks ago for just this reason.

I had to pay £2.95 and drop them off at the local Hermes place. The return was processed within a few days of them being dropped off, and money returned to my PayPal account.

It's all very efficient, and I don't begrudge the £2.95 postage fee when it was my own daft fault. I bought the right size from Wiggle too.

(I think Wiggle and Chain Reaction are the same these days, right? They merged?)

Yes on both counts - easy return through Herpes and Chain Reaction and Wiggle seem to be the same thing now.
