Front Tyres/Rear Tyres (MTB)
Discussion
Morning all.
Need some new tyres for my MTB, a 27.5" 2016 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp Carbon.
Currently have Maxxis Minion DHF on the front, DHR on the rear, 2.3 wide.
What I really want is the skinwall finished Minions:

But, I can't seem to find them in DHR, only DHF.
How much of a difference does it really make? They say you can use fronts on the rear and vice-versa, but has anyone done it, or even better, done it back to back with 'correct' tyres? Can you really tell, at an amateur level?

Gone from an Orange Alpine 6 DHF front DHR Rear to a Ragley MMbop hardtail with DHF front DHF rear, works great. TBH only did it as the hard tail was a custom build and this was a cheaper option for tyres. Taken the bike to another shop since and the guy there got super excited about me running DHF X2, saying it worked great.
DHF are a bit heavier than DHR if that matters to you.
Depending on your preference for grip vs rolling speed, Dissectors are a good option too - not quite as much bite and braking traction, but faster rolling and still corner very well. DHF front Dissector rear would be a good combo.
