Hi All,

Have a brand new Fox DPX2 shock which is making squelching noises. Only run Rockshox shocks before this so not sure if this is just how Fox shocks are???

The compression and rebound adjusters don't seem to make too much difference either. When you flick the compression lever to climb it doesn't seem to make an immediate difference but will eventually lock out the rear.

Does this sound like a warranty issue or is it just how they are? Not super impressed it has to be said.

My RS Superdeluxe ultimate makes a slight hissing noise which is normal. Id not describe it as squelching though

Normal for shocks of that style I'm led to believe

In comparison my DPS did not make that nose

The only squelchy Fox shoxs i've heard have been warranty jobs due to an internal seal passing or poor factory bleed.

Not the same shock but my X2 Float DH is silent in rebound and compression.

The fact your lockout isn't instantly activating points to this.

Maybe worth releasing all the air from the can and resetting the adjusters?

Setting the adjusters to what? Both fully open before pressurising?

Wide open and function it full stroke a few times with minimal pressure in the can

If you're handy with a spanner you can open it and check if air has mixed with the damping oil.

Although if it's new i would warranty it first. https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&...

Edit: Just to be clear my only experience of the DPX series are my mates tales of woe with them.

Just tried that. Seems a little better. Not so noisy but the adjusters still don't seem to do much.

Great rolleyes

Might just have to send it to Silverfish for warranty.

It's not a pogo stick, but it doesn't seem right.

From riding/swapping bikes with the other guys who have those DPXs they all make a normal quiet'ish damping noise but don't sound aerated.

You should be able to run the rebound quite fast with no top out clunk and both comp and rebound strokes should feel consistent from hit to hit.

I don't suppose anyone on here has any contacts at Silverfish do they? If so would it be possible to swing a faster warranty turnaround on my rear shock? Currently stating 3 weeks but that will leave me without a bike.

Offer of beer tokens if you can swing a more rapid response.

If you don't ask...right..? smile

I have a DPX2. It most definitely doesn't make a single noise and I bottom it out on rides.

It needs a warranty look at. Better sort now than have it crap out on a trail or wear stanchion or part internally and you are left shock less during summer peak period.

Check with silverfish on current lead times. I.e. if you post Sat afternoon could they get it back to you following Friday? I remember one year, in Summer I was without a shock for weeks when I blew the shock in the Alps. I had no other bike then frown

I'm shipping it off to them today. They are quoting 3 weeks to turn it round. I've spoken to them and they won't budge. Not too happy.

I went out on the bike last night and bumped into a mate of a mate who has a similar Fox shock so I had a go and mine definitely isn't right.

Still....get it done now and still get the best of the summer weather to ruin it again smile

Yeah mine was less than 5 months old and was squishy and sqeulchy. It still had damping though.
I bought the bike 2nd hand and couldn't be faffed with silverfish after previous poor experience with them.
Got it done by sprung for 100quid or so within a few days.
At least rockshox stuff is cheap garbage where as fox stuff is expensive crap. Plus all airshocks are unreliable, never had one last a year.

Mine was new with frame so it's warranty jobbie. It'll mean buying a used shock though so I can still use the bike for weeks it's off.
