New bike prices crystal ball

Im a bit out of the loop however have just realised that a new 3 grand bike will be fitted with 105
Theres nothing wrong with 105, I have it on my current bike and its great however that bike cost 1500 quid not that long ago
Obvs Im aware of the supply issues over the last year mostly due to difficulty in sourcing components from closed factories and to a much lesser degree Brexit paperwork but I hadnt really clocked the significant hikes in prices.
Do we think this is sustainable, or a blip in a demand lead market and prices will readjust down on new bikes in a year or so?
For context a mate bought a Canyon last year for £2400
The same bike is now listed on Canyon UK for just under £3000 and on the German Canyon website for 2600 Euros
So in Germany at least theres been no price hike

I think Brexit has a lot to do with it.
For example I was looking at a Vitus which was 650 Euros a year ago, it has now gone up to 850 euros and when I asked Chain Reaction Cycles why they said it was due to increased costs with Brexit and shipping to Europe.
I assume it works from things going to Europe to the UK as well.

Have noted very sharp price increases in the past 6 months. As you say, 105 equipped bikes are basically £3k which I find beyond my idea of reasonable.
The other downside is that everyone on eBay suddenly thinks their 2015 Sora aluminium road bike is worth £800+ (Or in fact list price) bonkers

We’ll all be back to completely normal by the end of July, everything will return to how it was before, there will be no more excessive demand for bikes and bike bits. Well all be living as we were before, a base level 105 equipped bike will retail for 1500 quid and everything will be wonderful again. Or not. Conversely, I just sold a carbon-framed, rim-braked road bike with 105 5800 for £700. I was a little taken aback by how many people would make comically low offers and try to tell me it was overpriced. Quite satisfying to respond to say that someone had already offered me the asking price and was picking it up the next day. Will things decrease again? I doubt it no
There was a forum member on my Levo £13k thread, his/her opinion was that golfist types are to blame and I agree. Dave the dentist buys a £10k bike to show off, then accountant Mike goes and outdoes him and buys a £12k bike.
Manufacturers cotton onto this and then fuel the fire so to speak, providing the ever increasing priced bikes to keep them going

A friend last week took delivery of a new 2020-spec Trek Domane 2x12 speed AXS from his LBS. Was a tad over £4k relative to a list price of £5k+ It certainly looks the biz, if somewhat heavier than I'd expected.
The Domane frame is almost 2kg. For carbon! They're not light unlike the Emonda. The saddle post "sheaf" puts me off on those domanes.
Seems that people are even more willing to pay up for brands now. Canyon has become one but other mail order onlys like Orro still have 105 under 2k , or di2 around 3.
Doesn't surprise me about people paying for names, beyond the golfer one upmanship. Bought a Spesh (on sale) and it's just better put together than cheaper brands I own, quality finishing kit, service etc.... Does that they are willing to take 6m/1y delays to get them though!

Good work, my research has hit a blank on discounts due to supply issuesWas the Domane an unusual size?

Do folks have a lot more money to spend? What with no holidays, eating out, commuting costs etc for the last year. Perhaps retailers sensibly/manufacturers are looking to relieve folks of that cash surplus.
Maybe Brexit is to blame maybe it's not but it will be an easy smokescreen to use.
A lot of cattle are imported from Netherlands, Germany and Denmark into UK. Since Jan there has been no change in the cost.

Just to say that Orro isn’t mail order only. Plenty of bike shops sell them and I bought mine from a bike shop. Good bikes - it was an Orro Gold I sold recently (see my post above) and I’m still wondering whether I should have replaced it with another Orro rather than bought a much more expensive Cervelo.
