...that also look good biggrin

I suspect I'm gonna get laughed at here but I'm not a serious cyclist - my rides are mostly cycle path based, and for distances between 20 & 50 miles.

I don't wear cleats, I may in the future, but right now, I'm not bothering. I've been wearing a pair of converse all stars but want to change to something else.

Oh and I'm a fair weather cyclist paperbag

So, any suggestions?

If I'm on my MTB (so not clipped in) I love my five-tens:

They just look like regular trainers/skate shoes, so you don't look like too much of a pillock with them on. My other grey and orange SPD shoes look a bit 'special'.

I should have mentioned - I'd rather avoid skate style stuff, as for the bike, I prefer a slimmer silhouette.

Something like a Shimano MT3? look like a pair of trainers/walking shoes and have a removable bit of sole so you can bolt cleats on in the future.

I have similar MT5s and find that if you're not clipped in, they're a bit useless; the shape of the sole doesn't lend itself to providing much grip on a flat pedal.

Giro Rumble could be an option. Slimmer style trainer, stiffer sole so good for pedal support.

I like stuff from Vans and DC shoe company. I find them to be both comfy and supportive.

Adidas/five ten trailcross. Several versions available, same grippy sole as regular five tens but in a more trail trainer style. I have the previous style ones and they are very comfortable on and off the bike.

No one is laughing at you for not wanting to wear cleats etc, tbh I know a few cyclists, some that are serious cyclists going back to flat shoes (for various reasons) - I tried cleats and after a year went back to flats.

I wear my MTB shoes for every bike I ride now, with some nice flat pedals.

The main reason that I'm avoiding cleats is because last year I had a couple of high speed moments. As it was, I stayed on the bike both times, but if I'd been wearing cleats, I'd have binned it spectacularly.

I have had a pair of these for a while. They work well & I now ride with SPD cleats but didn't when I first got them. Even with cleats you can walk in them. They look a bit like a steel capped trainer.
