Lady Balfour put her favourite, new, Castelli cycling top in the washer, with only some water splashes on it. It has come out with black stains all over it Nothing else in the load was grubby (her pants mainly).

A second wash has not shifted the marks.

Any tips chaps please?

I leave such things to my wife.

My favoured old white Pistonheads top was looking grubby, that went into an old water bottle with some stuff our lass supplied, then shaken and left for 24 hours. After a wash cycle it was suitably restored to whiteness.

Is your wife defective?

If she was, I would not dare tell her.biggrin

The reason I asked the question is that I recall when I had pale coloured cycling gear it occasionally got unexplainable black marks on it. Like chain grease, despite it being nowhere near the chain.

She is a bit disappointed because Father Christmas gave it to her, and she hasn't worn it much.

It started like this.

It now has this all over it.

I wonder whether soaking in an oxy action product would sort it, or whether it would trash the garment.

Have you checked your washing machine? Could be sludge or residue in the soap dispenser/drawer/door seals.

Don't leave anything to soak for too long in an oxy action solution. It will bleach the garment in odd places.
I made the mistake with some blue shorts and parts of them turned pink! They had to be dyed blue again. rolleyes

The washer is only 4 weeks old and it hasn't marked anything else.

Looking at the staining, it appears that maybe there was dust in the fabric, it got wet and settled in the bottom of the drum and the rest of the wash cycle "fixed" it rather than washing it out.
