Look Pedals and Cheap Shoes
Discussion
Hi all,
Just bought a second hand road bike and it's got some Look pedals. Bike will be used for commuting and rides round South London.
With it being my first road bike I don't have any suitable shoes.
Anyone got any recommendations? Preferably on the lower end of the budget.
Will I need to buy cleats to work with them?
Or should I just get some flat pedals and be done with it.

Half and half from my point of view.
If commuting through traffic and you’re going to be wearing the shoes the other end most then go flats.
If you’ll be predominantly riding for leisure and want the performance benefit, then go cleats.
You will need a set of Look specific cleats whatever shoes you get if you go that route. They’re easily available and cheap enough.

Cleats that will work. Different colours give different amounts of float.

Good starting point for shoes.

Most people need to size up, and if you have wider feet you may need to go for a wide fit model (which Shimano and a few others offer)
Of course you can go proper crazy and spend hundreds

Ended up getting some cleats and some Northwave shoes.
Had a little practice leaning against the wall and it doesn't seem too bad, this weekend will be the real test!
Will only be commuting once a week in, when it's good weather and got some mates who like doing weekend rides so hope to get some good use out of them.
