Afternoon all,

I was on Zwift earlier, and right at the end of a ride my turbo trainer started making a horrid noise, almost like an angle grinder. I stopped pedaling, got off to have a quick look, all looked normal but then I couldn't pedal, it was like it was locked in place. A few seconds later it released and I could pedal again, but accompanied by angle grinder noises.

It's a dumb trainer with a switch for the levels of magnetic resistance. I only bought it in January so hopefully it's still under warranty, unless PH knows what the issue is and how to repair it quickly and easily?

Thank you

AyBee

Apologies, it's a Life Line TT-01, purchased from Wiggle. I think Planet X do the same trainer branded as something else, it was £99 new so not at the sharp end of turbo trainers, but helped me get into Zwift

Thread bump with update.

After taking advice from friends and family, I thought it would have been a bearing gone. So I've had a quick look inside. However everything looks fine, no evidence of anything broken.

On the outside however, there is a crack in the plastic casing, but not on the magnetized side of it. So I'm wondering if it's the broken plastic rubbing on the metal?

Trying my luck with warranty, shouldn't be declined as it shouldn't fail like that. Failing that... gorilla glue and get on with Zwift?

If you bought it only a couple of months ago stop fking about with it and get it swapped under warranty.

Spoke to warranty dept, they're sending me a new one out. I also had the option of taking vouchers for the value and keeping the fked one, or sending it back for a cash refund. They didn't say about taking back this one when my new one arrives though. Not sure what to do with it.

Ask the q - if they say 'just keep it' then I'd sell it for spares or repair to someone who wants to have a crack at fixing it.
