I was going to build up a keeper bike, but the Covid related hike in parts prices and availability issues has put the kibosh on that for now. Maybe next year when/if things have calmed down a bit.

So to have a bit of fun in the meantime without depleting the build fund too much, how should I best spend £300-£400?

1) New wheels/tyres for existing bike. Nothing wrong with the ones I have but they are pretty solid and heavy.

2) Use it as a kitty to buy a string (maybe 3 or 4) s/h bikes, each of which I keep for a couple of months before moving on and getting another. Idea being to try a range of different frame types/geometries and thus help me really nail the keeper when I do get round to building it.

3) something else I haven't thought of.

Thoughts gratefully received!

Spend it on a full on pro retul-type fitting session and use the info to get a bespoke, custom built frame built for you, depends how committed to a “keeper” you are really.

That is a very sensible piece of advice, and undoubtedly a good use if the money thank you.

But I want jam today, not just tomorrow;)
