No Trek till Brooklyn. (Actually March 2022)
Discussion
Having decided to splurge on a new bike I decided I'd go blag myself a Trek, other brands are available however I really like the new Emonda
Firstly I choked at the current prices which are 10% higher than in December when I initially looked but I was getting odd info about availability from their UK website so just called head office
No UK stock anywhere in my size, I'm tall but not a giraffe, and no deliveries till March 2022. And absolutely no chance of anything coming through "unexpectedly" till then
Chap on phone very helpful and explained it's a combination of shortage of components and that the frames come via Germany
Guess I won't be scratching my Emonda itch anytime soon
Currently having a coffee, I'll check out my other options later
Can anyone else beat a wait of over a year? Friend just ordered a Ribble and was shocked at 4; month lead time. I'm jealous

I did hear about this, I was lucky enough to find a 2021 Stumpjumper in my size (S6) available at an online bike store. I wasn't really ready to buy but knowing there was no real stock coming any time soon I went for it. Since then there is no new stock until the end of the year.
Some of it is supply materials being affected by Covid, some is Brexit.

Just ordered an Orbea Laufey - it’s not due until the middle of April, however some of the other lead times for different manufacturers were well into the second half of the year.
Like other posters I decided to go for it with the pre-order rather than miss out if bike purchases go mental again like last year.

A friend of mine ordered is Emonda in June 2020, just had the call this week to let him know it's in the country now. Should be with the dealer (and built) in he next 2 weeks..
I must have got lucky, I ordered a 2021 model Emonda at the end of July last year and collected it two weeks later.Gareth1974 said:

The whole Worls is ordering Bikes like crazy and the factories can’t cope. The orders keep piling in and they can only build at a certain rate. COVID and shipping have slowed down production also. Stock reserves are dwindling and nobody will swap any stocks between f]different Countries so the only way of getting stock is to wait for the factories to deliver. Leadtimes from Factories are mostly middle of 2022 now. You might still be able to buy a bike it’s just that the shops won’t have the ability to order extra so if they have bikes arriving that they haven’t pre-sold then you will be in luck.
Some bloke on youtube seemed to have the answer for the delays. In sort it only takes one item in a bike build to stop the whole thing in its tracks. Those with the most robust and reliable supply chains fair best but even they are affected.
He took about 15mins to say that like all youtube experts.
I expect another barren year then probably a glut in the future.

I don't get this...does it really take that long to cycle up more production? The demand has been enormous for at least a year at this point, it's not like it's just happened...for bike brands to say they have sold out of next years supply is just crazy. They are really not the most complicated machines!
I rang Trek locally to enquire as our CTW scheme is opening up soon, managed to secure me a Domane SL4 but wont be here until May.
Every secondhand POS is £300 plus, anything old is now "Vintage", nope most of it is still just old.
Well used ten year old basic Spec Allez that probably needs a new drivetrain and tyres is not a £450 bike to my mind,

Thing is, a lot of these bikes, like a lot of CTW stuff are just sat in garages gathering dust, the number of £999 full suss MTBs sold at my last place was comical, cycle to work on a full susser no thanks, and some of them lived 40 miles away or more,
