Is it easy to update them to a different type if the one you are currently using becomes obsolete? Is it a case of plug and play?

What’s the bike?

What’s the drive system?

As an example I can upgrade my 400wH Bosch battery to a factory 500wH one.

I can also get an aftermarket 600wH one from the Netherlands that will fit the mounting cradle.

There are guys that will rebuild them if they stop working but it’s pretty complex apparently.

I would say the batteries inside are pretty generic but its very dangerous to muck about with for an inexperienced person.
Hopefully plenty of battery reconditioning services will spring up eventually.

They may do one with a a higher capacity so you get more range, but the voltage will have to match the controller and motor so performance will be the same.

These are the go to folks for updated batteries. Superb service.

I had them build a replacement battery for an oset trials bike. Transformed the bike. Huge decrease in weight and improvements to current delivery and range.

Not cheap mind but then batteries aren't.

They are well known and recommended on the ebike forums. They supplied a 635wH "Dolphin" type power pack for my first conversion. Five years and over 4000 miles later it's still perfect.
