I am struggling with this “fast” release system.
I can’t get the tension back to hold the axel in place it’s obviously operator error as it was fine before changing the tyres but for the life of me I can’t get the adjustment to go tight enough.
Any advice would be helpful thanks?

I have watched that already but it does not explain how to increase the tension as I can’t get the knurled nut to turn!

Ah.

I've got thru axles but just the regular ones with no fancy mechanism. They work fine! smile

I have the RAT system on a Cervelo and never had a problem.

Push the axle through and watch for where it comes out at the other side. Turn 90 d then lift up to tighten.

If it’s too easy to lift, screw the threaded part out a little and lift again.

Where in the country are you? If local, I can show you.

Chris.

It’s the “screw the threaded part” that’s the problem!
The knurled part won’t turn its solid both front and rear which I think means it’s me not the part and there is nothing on YouTube to help that I can find!

So does the 'nut' type bit directly below the lever not turn at all?

Try screw the nut part all the way down the thread and then try again.

The end should slide all the way through the hub, through the frame and twist 90d into place.

Then use the lever against the nut part ( that you have just moved ) to tighten. You will need to move the nut part to adjust how tight / slack you clamp the wheel.

Nut part is solid won’t turn either way!

Well it should turn! It is purely there to get the correct tension for the quick release lever. So does the thru axle turn and lock into place at the other end?

The nut part should definitely turn. As said above, that’s what created the tension.

Try a bit of lube on it, and try turn it.

Yes - there is a piece on the end that looks like a T. That twists into place then you tighten with the lever at the other end.

It's an absolute garbage system, replace them

https://robertaxleproject.com/

can be bought at https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/the-robert-axle-projec...

Much better system, just uses a hex key, why on earth they decided to overcomplicate it I have no idea.

I have this system on my Cervelo. It's on my list of mods, there is an OEM solution available too I'm told.

The BB is also on the list to replace, and will be done first.
