Cycle Surgery and Cycle Republic's respective owners closed down those businesses a while ago, pre Covid.
Lots of other bike shops are open currently, but some are working to appointments to minimise people in stores etc, and some just offering servicing. Demand for bikes is far outstripping supply currently, so many have very little to sell unfortunately. And it only takes one case of covid to close a business like a bike shop too.

Cycle Republic is now 2 Tredz stores in Wales.

Evans are all still open. Flag bikes say they’re still open as of a website update this morning.

Ultimately owned by private equity firm, probably asset stripped and laden with debt.

I have a mate who is a store manager for Snow and Rock. Apparently the company wound cycle surgery down in order to focus on other aspects of the business. I guess decisions were taken before the covid cycling boom.

The guy who runs the shop I got my last bike from was telling me last week lots are shutting as there's no stock of bikes and servicing over winter doesn't pay the bills, so they're shutting up shop and furloughing themselves. Makes sense, a lot of the mountain bikes I want to demo I won't be able to do for 3-6 months due to demand vastly outstripping supply.

Their website is very misleading then, that’d be an annoying wasted journey ...

Flag Bikes' Facebook page says "Jan 5th 3:58pm - Good news! Even with the new restrictions put in place by the government yesterday, we are ESSENTIAL! So will be open as of Wednesday 10-6."

My local bike shop is open but only for email-booked appointments for workshop services.

They could open more, but want to protect their staff.
