Hoping to get a decent recommendation - I’ve had a couple of robust (meaning large / not foldable) bike stands in the past that I’ve ended up giving away as took up too much room.

I’ve managed home spannering for past couple of years without a stand but as I’m getting on a bit (37!) coupled with a neglected core my back feels like it’s going to snap every time I bend over to mess with bike.....

I want something easy to put away and doesn’t take up too much room, but also suitable to take the weight of a MTB. Without spending hundreds of pounds.

Thanks !

I was going to recommend the feedback sports mechanic workstand but it seems to have jumped up in price since I bought mine a few years ago! Great bit of kit though and has the advantage of folding down pretty small when not in use

I have a Lidl one, possibly Crivit branded. Cheap and cheerful, does the job well.

I have the older version of the Park Tool PCS-9.2 and it copes easily with my eMTB. New one looks like it folds down even tighter.

Same here can’t fault it. For the price it’s perfect.

Thanks for the recommends. I’ve had a look to see when Lidl will be next doing cycle related gear but nothing showing...

I’m already spending too much time reading reviews on stands!! It’s a repair stand, not a new car smile

If you want something small there are bench or wall mounted options?

Obligatory Park Tool link

Cheaper alternative link

Good if space is tight, not so good for accessing both sides of the bike at the same time.

By means of an update thought I’d let you all know what I went with. I ended up spending too much time reading about stands (prob longer than the total future time I’ll spend actually working on bikes)

I decided I didn’t want to spend over £100 for a stand so went with this

Just greased my lower link on the bike and took me 10 mins and avoided any spine injuries.

And fits in its designated (well I know where it is) space

Cost £89 and very pleased. I spent the saved money on a new Wera Zyklop speed hex set :-)

For anyone interested it’s a lifeline mechanics work stand purchased from

Thanks, hoping to move this year and a bike area is on the agenda along with a stand.

Looking into this myself. Interested in why you chose the £89 one over the £69.?

Do you have a shed/garage wall spare?

I looked at stands but wanted something that was a bit less likely to tip over - hadn’t considered there might be an alternative until a friend showed me his one of these.

For the cost I think it’s great. Can be adjusted for multiple attachment angles and folds away very neatly when not in use. I lived without a stand for decades, but I wouldn’t do without this one now.

I purchased one of these the other week after asking the same question on pedelecs.
Its very stable when in place and I can work all around my emtb with battery in for cleaning at 24kg.
Folds down to not much bigger than my camera tripod.

There are two on this CRC page one £69 and one £89. One has a mat.

Oh Yeah. I’d had one like that £69 stand before (tubular framed) the £89 more robust and would be easier to use. Also looks better smile (for the 2 times a year it’s out....)
