Hi, I've picked up a Trek Marlin 7 in a Medium frame for my wife who will be a novice to trails, something I've taken to a few months back.

The Marlin seat post is only 330mm and she needs it right down to be a comfortable height for her at the bottom of the pedal stroke.
There is still 100mm above the post clamp when the bottom of the fixed post hits the screw housings in the post tube so there is a bit of wiggle room there I think for a degree of drop, maybe even just 80mm.
One of the issues is the Marlin doesn't have an exit point for a stealth fit cable so needs external routing.

Can anyone recommend a 330mm dropper (31.6mm) with external routing?
Even if the travel is only 80 or 100mm I'm sure it would help avoid any early OTB action that would put her off.
I appear from generic searches of CRC etc to be looking for something moderately rare.

Many thanks

If I’m being honest I think that dropper posts don’t help less confident riders. Too much to think about when concentrating on steering, balancing and pedalling.

Why don’t you cut the seat post down and fit a QR and she can drop it to lower level, practice on the trails and build confidence on the bike? Cheaper and more effective.

My OH has the same bike and the same problem and this is what we are doing.

You can get a Pro Koryak dropper it’s 70mm dropper and externally routed. It’s 27.2mm but you can get shims from USE to make this fit any frame.

Have you looked at Brand X, pretty sure the one I got my GF was 100mm.

Thanks for the inputs guys. The Pro Koryak appears to still be 400mm despite the modest drop and I have had a look at the brand x, like the prices but don't see anything that fits the bill. I may yet get the hack saw out to the OE post and let her slip it down before she starts anything that might get steep when the time comes.
