Decathlon MTB Rockrider Trousers - Any good?
Discussion
Hi there,
As per the title I am looking to get a large pair of MTB trousers for going out in the winter slop but options are proving fairly limited with most out of stock.
I have came across the AM Trail MTB Rockrider trousers which seem perhaps too cheap to be any good...or the others are vastly overpriced.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these and if they are any good - fit, waterproof capability etc comments are appreciated

As per cml24's reply, I can't help with the specific product, but I wear Decathlon/B-twin lycra shorts and winter tights. No issues with them so far. They seem generally well-made and are comfortable on long ( >8 hour) rides. All things wear out eventually too, so when the clothing was less expensive to begin with it doesn't "hurt" as much when you wear it out or ruin it by sliding down a road on your hip...

Coincidentally, I had a pair delivered yesterday and wore them today.
They're absolutely great. Very very comfy. Attention to detail is superb. I'm going to get another pair.
Only criticism is that they are a tiny bit short, but then I am 195cm.
Extremely coincidentally, I got mine recently, too. They're absolutely great. Very very comfy. Attention to detail is superb. I'm going to get another pair.

I’m 6’0” and a bit tubby (not super fat), and the large fit me well, but again the legs are short. Doesn’t bother me for the price.

I'm 5'6" (or just under, at 166 cm) and I have the opposite issue, with almost every garment coming up long in the arms or legs if it fits my waist/chest. Maybe I'm a little short for my weight? Or maybe the rest of you have more Orangutan DNA than you care to admit to? But yes, stuff doesn't fit my short arms and legs. Not so much of an issue in the summer, obviously, but when the winter kit comes out of the box in the back of the wardrobe, the turn-ups come back into fashion. My PH tops? Owayo long sleeve jacket? Sleeves turned up at the cuff. My Bio-Racer winter jacket? Sleeves turned up at the cuff. My Endura waterproof jacket? Same length issue but turned under to avoid pooling water at my wrists. But at least turned up cuffs are a useful place to tuck a few empty cereal bar wrappers until I get home or can stop at a bin. The real issue comes when it's winter tights that are too long. The close fit and the taper of the garment means there are limited places to "store" the extra fabric. Zipped ankle cuffs mean I can't turn them up without damaging the zip and/or being uncomfortable. So I end up with a turned over section just above my knee, so effectively I have a two inch patch on each leg that has a triple layer of fabric. It's not particularly irritating, but it does make me look a little bit silly if I'm honest. And no, I can't go down a waist size either, because the trousers/tights I'm wearing are already the smallest ones I can comfortably fit my torso/waist into. Oh, to be just a couple of inches taller...

Arent the AM Trail a summer trouser ? The winter version - ST500 - are out of stock online.
Yes in theory, but I run cold and went out in c.3 degrees the other day and they performed well. Once you’re cycling, the last thing you’d want is a thermal lining on your legs. At least, for me. And like I say, I run cold... so I was worried how these would perform. Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
