Hi

Ive got a RS sektor fork, 2019 model and I just did a top and bottom service about 300 miles back. Whilst I had the fork apart I took the opportunity to increase the travel to 150mm from 130mm by leaving out a spacer on the air spring. This is mentioned in the sektor service manual as a possible configuration, and the fork itself is available as a 150mm anyway.

Maybe im paranoid but since ive been using it as 150mm ive noticed under hard braking it flexes between the upper and lower section. Hard to explain - not the upper or lower bending, but the telescoping deviates from a straight line.

Very hard to measure but am only talking a few mm.

Also, there is a crack noise when rocking the fork back and forth.

I suspect this is all caused by the upper bush in the lower is doing all the work in 150mm config, leading to extra play/tolerance.

Is this something to be concerned at? anyone else converted a sektor fork?

thanks
mike

How heavy are you?

I can flex certain forks and I ride top heavy over the front bit I only noticed that on older QR forks so it flexed at the end/twisted.

Yours shouldn't. Restrip and exam i say.

I did end up taking the uppers and lowers apart today and put more grease in the top. I doubt it'll affect the bend but the gave me a chance to check for cracks etc. All looks good. I suspect the uppers are not resting inside the mid-way bushes in the lowers, hence a bit of play. Ideally i think the middle bush would be 25mm higher up for 150mm travel.

Am 100kg.
