Hello Ph Cycling gods.

I have a really cheap arse hybrid bike from Decathlon, it's lousy, but does the job. However, the brakes need adjusting and are a bugger to set up. So how do I set them up so one pad doesn't bind or drag all of the time?

Assuming they are “v” brakes, there are tiny screws on the caliper arms, screw one in and it will push the other caliper arm out centering the brakes

^ what he said.

Before you start with the screws, just check the vertical wire springs are in their slots at the top of the arms.

Oh, and check the wheel is centered properly in the drop outs.
