I don't know much about bikes, but i've almost finished restoring a 2000 era Raleigh Special Products mtb bike, which i finished in a Ferrari Pearl Orange This is the rear derailleur Shimano Altus RD-MC18 Rear Mech Derailleur https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-Altus-RD-MC18-R...

This is what i have note the hanger bit.

I wanted a new updated version but i think i've ordered the wrong type i bought this SHIMANO-RD-TX35 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SHIMANO-RD-TX35-NEW-TY2...

It doesn't fit it looked similar but the original has a hanger which i assumed was part of the Shimano rear deraileur been the same colour & material. I think the part is actually a rear hanger and need to buy a different fitting style to fit.

Which Shimano TX35 will connect to that rear hanger?

Normally, the hanger is the bit that attaches to the bike, which is bike specific.

The derailleur attaches to the hanger, and is not specific to anything.

The old hanger and new derailleur would normally fit together, so you might be OK.

The one i bought will not attach to the hanger, but maybe something like this would https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-Acera-RD-M390-7...

The bike i have i changed the rear cassete from 5Mailard to 6 speed Mailard, but the above says for 7-8-9 speed, not sure what to order really. Or even what is a decent part, are Shimano's full of knockoffs?

Worked it out now, the one i bought won't fit, ordered a bolt on Shimano RD-TZ500-GS which will do the job, at least i learned about rear hangers now.
