This may seem a dumb question but my 2017 Orro is unlikely to get ridden by me & has never been ridden so probably looking to sell it.
How do you let someone look at a bike without cocking a leg over & disappearing down the road on it?

I've never ridden a bike I've bought and I guess at the moment it's a little more difficult.

Chances are the person looking at that bike may well know what it is and just be happy to turn up and take away. Or cash upfront and let them ride it?

Cash upfront or a drivers license?

I never get the point of "test riding" bikes - they all feel wrong until they are fit correctly and you're used to them.

A buyer can do most checks while stationary (headset play / change through the gears / general condition / bottom bracket / wheel bearings) - if you don't trust them don't let them ride it - if you're unsure then ask for their car keys.......

Aside from kids bikes, I've only ever sold 1 bike, but that (and the kids bikes) where all sold without a test ride.

Conversely, I've only ever bought one bike 2nd hand (a frog bike for my daughter) and the seller let her ride it up and down the road as much as we liked.

I buy and sell the odd second hand bike, I never test ride em, I check everything is in working order mind, then sling em in the back of the car, tart em up and resell em.
