Frustratingly my Quarq DZero gave up on me yesterday and I found out today it's irreparable and no longer available new - Sram Red (11sp eTap) carbon cranks 110BCD GXP.

What's a reliable and accurate crank based power meter out there? I ran Garmin Vector pedals and I've no desire to run a pedal based PM again.

Compatibility wise, my bike has a PF30 BB although my Quarq was a GXP and I have an adaptor in there at the moment. I have Sram Red 11sp eTap groupset.

Maybe a Power2Max spider to replace the Quark spider on your existing cranks? think it depends how many bolts hold the crank to the spider as I think the "power meter ready" type SRAM cranks use more bolts?

Replace with the same again?

What is the warranty saying about it?

No direct replacement. Latest Quarq requires cranks, spider and new BB to work with their 'dub' system.

I bought it used on eBay 15 months ago so no dice. I'll buy new this time.

I 'think' the warranty tracks the unit. I've certainly had a spider replaced by them (via cyclepowermeters) when I've not been the original owner... Worth a go.

There is a thread on WeightWeenies with some info about mixing DUB and Dzero cranks and spiders.

https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic...

Maybe can find a new spider for your current cranks for a few hundred pounds. Starbike maybe?

Are you sure it's definitely broken? One of mine has been used in all conditions for the last 4 years. Have you tried a different battery/different brand of battery? Made sure its making good contact with the terminals etc? Put the battery in upside down to reset it?

A chap I know put me in touch with Bob at cyclepowermeters and I need to give him a call.

It was weird riding with no power today. At least I have the weather at the moment to continue riding. My Tacx Flux's power function is broken so I've been relying on my PM to Zwift.

One of the first things I checked. I've been using Panasonic and the previous lasted 5000km and this battery is on about 2000km and showing as green on the app.

Bob from cyclepowermeters said it was kaput from the information and screenshot I sent him.

I tried a different battery and still not registering power.

Mine has been flawless up high mountains and the most Flandrian of Flanders conditions. It's failure seemed to coincide with me dropping my chain and jamming it against my frame. It was working to that point then when I got going again, I noticed it was showing a constant 1435w before settling on 0w.

Ordered a new DZero spider for c.£400 through cyclepowermeters.

Other option was a new crankset needing chainrings and new BB which didn't make financial sense.

30 day wait now.

What was your concerns about pedal based PM? Only asking as I was considering getting some vectors or assioma pedals

My Vector 2Ss broke. My mate is on his 3rd warranty replacement on his 3s. Another in my club had the same with their 3s. There are two in my club with Assiomas and both said they've been great, with no issues, so I wouldn't want to put you off those.

I’ve only heard good things about Assiomas too.

A chap I know who rides a lot (20hr a week, every week) referred to the Vectors as toys. Just fell apart, useless. I’ve never want something that took the beating a pedal does measuring my power, personally.

Thanks for the pointers everyone. My brother has assioma pedals and has never had any issues with them either. Vectors are now off the menu smile

Had Assimoas for about 3 years. Excellent and very good service back up.

I did have an issue with one - they went into my files, checked that the power readings were screwy and I had a new axle posted out to me - arrived in 3 days.

I tend to swap them from bike to bike, boot them up and off I go.

I now have a pile of redundant Time pedals if anyone wants some.......
