I bought some wheels 9y ago and whilst I looked after them properly used them heavily such as their braking surface is heavily worn. Good for another season or two but worn nevertheless.

I’ve just swapped bikes and converted to discs hence the change.

I initially paid £500 for them and was shocked they were bid up to £300 for a well used wheel set. The buyer now has them listed at fixed price of £500. You can buy their replacements new for £650 yet he sold a similar set to mine for £500 last week.

Madness

£500 for 9y old wheels, honestly wondering if I’ve stumbled across a laundering outfit. Nobody is that stupid, surely.......

Edit: my ad was very clear on condition with close ups of braking track. His less so but he’s clearly a dealer so must know what he’s doing

Rim braked 10 speed or less, must be a bit of a niche market

I'll be getting the spares out the garage and photographed tonight...

I have an old and well used 36 spoke Mavic Open Pro front, and a set of Flo 30s, and don't have a rim braked bike for them to go on!

I’ve been thinking of offloading my Klein (pre-Trek) roadie for a while, replacing it with something more modern.

Now might be the time hehe

Sounds a good time to sell my PRST-1 frameset as I'm never going to get round to building it up.

The COVID era has been a great time for clearing the garage and wardrobe. I’ve sold all sorts for daft money:

£100 for a 10yr old Abus D lock
£70 for the OEM Alex rims from a 10yr old bottom of the range Allez
Old tyres for not far off new retail price
Pretty much doubled my money on a new Elite Direto trainer
Most of my Rapha jerseys for not far off what I paid new
Plus various old cassettes, brake pads etc. All sold easily.

Nooo...

... because I might end up buying it and spending far too much on something I'll never ride 😂

Three years of you doing twenty bazillion miles a week like a Amphetamine Addled Hamster in a wheel vs £999.95 for a brand new latest model one, no brainer !

I got some new £300 wheels and tyres for £150, so bargains still out there.

I managed to get a kids Frog 67 road bike for £130 on eBay last night, which seems very good, most are around £225. I also picked up a kids BMX for about half the RRP, which looks to be unused.

I will have to get selling again though...

This is definitely weird

He's now selling a regular iPhone for £100 more than list price

In addition to wildly overpriced cycling bits and pieces

I am clearly in the wrong game

They sold and he has another identical set now on for £600
As previously stated their successor is £650 a pair brand new

Mine were almost at the end of their useful life and were advertised as such by me but not him, I’d anticipated £100 absolute maximum on a good day

I’ve no idea who’s in this market but he obviously knows his audience and his listings never show close ups of the rims yet he has lots and lots of good feedback. I’d be well cheesed if I paid new money for old rope

I am clearly in the wrong game

Desperation is high. People bidding well over the odds.

I've not ridden my Dogma 65.1 since taking it off the KICKR. I'm so tempted to see what it would raise on eBay.

I sold a set of used Five-Ten MTB shoes for £95, having recently replaced them with a brand new pair of the same shoe for £110 off Amazon. The mind boggles - I would have been happy to get £10 for them!

What wheels were they?

Mavic Cosmic? They always seem to sell high second hand for some reason.

My main problem is the shipping of the Flo 30 wheels, I need to get hold of some appropriately sized boxes...

I've listed some tubulars, rim tape and gravel tyres, they're easier to box up!

eBay is mad at the moment. I was outbid recently on a balance bike for my son on the Wiggle eBay store, and it ended up selling for more than Wiggle are selling it brand new...

Same thing has happened a few times recently.

I know there was stock issues and difficulty getting hold of parts back in Lockdown 1.0 but not had any trouble lately so seem bizarre.
