Damaged in transit
Discussion
I’d appreciate some advice on this. Mrs OCD ordered a new electric bike from a well known retailer. It arrived yesterday. The carton in which it was packed had clearly been bashed about a bit. We took photos during the unpacking and found that there was damage to the front fork where the wheel attaches. The plastic scuff guard that was supposed to protect it was broken, and there is bare alloy exposed over a small area. There were also a couple of light scratches on one of the crank arms. We assembled it and everything else seems to be in order. The front wheel runs true so I don’t think that there is an alignment problem due to a bent fork. We contacted the vendor who said that we could either get some money off as compensation, or send it back for a full refund. They haven’t got another one in stock. I’m tempted to ask for the cost of a new fork and crank arm plus the cost of fitting at LBS but wondered if we’d be better off sending it back. What would you do?
you are expecting too much.
The cost of the components you want replaced will be disproportionate to the entire cost.
If you noticed damage you should not have assembled it but returned it. By assembling it I would see it that you are accepting the product.
Either send it back or get a few £ knocked off.
You don't mention the cost of the product but you sound as if you may be being a bit greedy and/or unrealistic.
Crank arms "light scratches": replace = unrealistic
