Anyone know why?

Sometimes SOME segments show up and give me the Kom pace, my own PB pace and then my current pace in the form of those three little icons racing up the screen, but it doesn't happen all the time and right now it's cost me at least one KoM because I didn't realise how close I was! biggrin

I thought it was supposed to do that for all your starred segments? confused

I'm a paid subscriber btw.

Are you using a Garmin? Segments don’t always show for me on my 520, it seems to be when the segment starts whilst the turn direction screen is still showing. When I exit the turn direction screen once it appears the segments work for me. The other issue could be that the device
hasn’t synced newly favourited segments properly?

That’s me out then! I didn’t realise phones supported live segments laugh

You don’t get the live feature on anything with a descent (or greater than x% drop) I think - they changed it when a family sued them in the US when their son met a truck while KOM chasing.

I think that’s broadly right, but you get the idea.

There are workarounds.

You star! That would explain it.

But FFS, -0.25%? Really?!! Does that even count as a descent?

Bloody "always somebody else's fault" yanks!

rolleyes

I'm assuming there's no workaround on Strava itself?

Stupid anyway as I just checked a segment I did the other day that came up live; the whole 7min segment is a 0.8% gradient. Which happens to include almost 2mins of -2.2% descent which definitely DID show up live!

So if the OVERALL gradient is steeper than -0.25 it won't show live, but if it isn't then it doesn't matter how steep any descents within that segment are. Genius.

Don’t think so,

You can download the .fit file for the segment onto your device (530 in my case), and it does work but I think that’s outside of Strava, so will only be as current as when you downloaded it for Strava if that makes sense.

I think it’s just the file type which is used to save segment-y stuff.

There’s a good thread on STW but I can’t find it atm

If there are a number of duplicate segments then it cannot process and show the one you’ve starred live.

Yeah it does get confused sometimes but the explanation above about "descents" has clarified it. Bloody pathetic, especially as I'm PAYING for it too!

It's akin to somebody suing a car manufacturer because they crashed going over the speed limit.
