Hopefully this is the best forum to ask.....

At the stage where getting a bike carrier would be handy. If we're not travelling with luggage getting all the bikes in the boot is fine and a trailer for our 16 month old but leaves room for nothing else.

Issue I have is I have leased cars for a number of years and will most likely continue to do so which takes getting anything that needs special adapters for a specific model etc (unless they're cheap) off the table. The majority of the time it will be for 2-3 bikes (my daughter is 4 so just a tiny bike at the moment).

I don't have a tow bar, I'd like to be able to access the boot so looking more a roof systems-next car is most likely to be another estate, current car is a Volvo V90 but will return that in Feb 21.

Any recomedations for a carrier?

Thule bike carriers combined with standard Halfords bars would get my vote. I certainly wouldn't both with what I think are overpriced thule bars and mounts.

Adding a towbar to a lease car shouldn't be an issue and the towbar racks are by far the best way to carry bikes. All other methods are bit more faff IMO.
