What £100ish road helmet?
Discussion
As per title really. Current helmet is fairly old (although pretty low use, so shouldn't be UV degraded) - and was quite cheap.
Doing more miles now on my gravel/Audax bike - and without my skull I'm pretty fked.
MIPS seems to move the game on in terms of safety. Fit and quality improvements compared to my current should be guaranteed.
What do people have they're happy with?

This seemed to come out well from an independent test

The VT helmet ratings are well-trusted and may be a start:

I have a Lazer Z1 MIPS and it's nice, just the pad replacement sets are expensive (£15), and the straps a little fiddly to adjust.

I have a few different ones across different brands. Fit can be quite different between the models. Kask Mojito doesn't fit me at all, the Protone like a glove. Similar issue with Specialised.
Bit like Motorbike helmets, you've either got an Arai or Shoei shape head. If you have a good shop near you, worth trying them on.

Watching this thread with interest after smashing my Uvex helmet up last week while arguing with a fox...
Budget isn't big, as it's looking like I'll get bought a new one for my birthday in a couple of months. Although I might ask for some slippers instead, and leave the protection of my bonce to something I chose for myself!

I’ve got 3 lids.
This is my Casco Warp sprint lid. It’s the most substantial of my lids, with Carbon Fiber construction, so it’s light, and very hardy.

It doesn't look very aero?!
It’s about as aero as it’s possible to get a lid. Designed in a wind tunnel, and used by the German national track cycling squads ( the Casco ). The Utopia ( the black aero lid ) is Kask’s signature aero lid.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0TCXjbKXxp8

I love my Met Manta, up until it got written off after I ran out of talent encountering a pothole going through a roundabout at 30mph. Cracked the shell, kept my head okay...
Replaced it with the same. I cracked a Met mountain bike lid in an off a few years ago, so have a pretty positive opinion on them.

Think I've narrowed down to the Lazer Z1 MIPS, or the Specialized Echelon 2 MIPS - based on the scoring in tests and reviews available, they seem to be the two that are coming out as the strongest contenders.
Also, both are (or should be) available to try on at local stores.
Do like the idea of the clip on aeroshell on the Lazer for winter - immense ventilation is great, until you can feel an icy blast screaming over your noggin!
