I've finally given in and bought a Kickr v5 - bring on the pain.

I suspect I know the answer but I'll ask anyway smile

I plan on using the Kickr with Zwift displayed on my MacBook or iPhone. The Kickr has successfully connected to both.

I also want to use my Edge 130 with HR strap, primarily so I can upload my activities to Vitality via Garmin Connect. I also want to upload via Zwift to Strava.

My question is: Can the HR signal that my Edge is receiving be passed via the Kickr to Zwift or I'm I going to have to suck up buying a BT HR strap (or ant+dongle)?

I think some Garmin devices can broadcast HR data on bluetooth but I've got the feeling its limited to a few of the watches with built in sensors.

Later Garmin straps are bluetooth. Or you can get a cheap ANT dongle for your Mac (I'm assuming they work on Macs).

Zwift gets my elite trainer sensor data ['bike data' - cadence, speed, power etc] via, in my case, an Apple Macbook. My Garmin chest strap is ANT+ only so the Mac can't read it so the only options are Garmin watch HR broadcast, Bluetooth Chest Strap or ANT+ dongle. I went the latter route.

Both the kickr and your HR strap broadcast on ANT+ and bluetooth. I'll sometimes turn my Garmin head unit on during a sufferfest video so i can have a look at the overall / lap / normalised powers mid-session, when using the kickr controlled via a macbook.

Just got to make sure i connect the 530 after the laptop as otherwise they can fight for control of the turbo in erg mode.
