I have 3 bikes. Gravel, summer road, and winter/wet weather road. All 6 tyres are cracking, despite being very careful with them.
Always run them at the correct pressure, check them over after a ride, don't use chemicals to clean, don't leave in the sun etc. Even tyres on a spare set of wheels hanging up are cracking...
And all different brands too!
This never seemed to happen years ago.
I'm now replacing tyres annually, before they wear out! I'm sure it's only a cosmic issue, but don't want to risk a crash if the tyres have been compromised as regards safety.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I've had old tyres cracking on the contact patch when they've had a lot of use. Not had any problems continuing to use them though.

Needing to replace them every year is a bit strange.

What make ?

I have some Vittoria Rubino Pros on both road bikes. One is the reserve bike that lives in the garage and the tyres have cracked and the tread is actually coming off. It has hardly any miles on it. The others have cracked around the tyre wall and I actually had a split adjacent to the rim.

Tyre quality nowadays is a complete joke. I'm still running ten year old marathons on one bike that have zero cracking issues.

Vittoria, Michelin and Schwalbe.
Last year, the Bridgestone tyres on my car cracked between the tread blocks, so changed those as well. They were about 4 years old, according to the date code on the sidewall.
It's either the rain or modern rubber!

I have the same tyres on mine and they have cracked like mad, just using them as normal and they are due changing but must be a feature.

Not sure what to get next, I object to paying £100 for a pair of bike tyres though, they do a cheapy at a tenner (inc postage)

Might give those a go and see how I get on over winter.
