Prescription cycling glasses?
Discussion
Any recommendations. Ideally a high street type place I can go and look and get a proper prescription.
I see Specsavers do sports style sunglasses, around £129 for two pairs, however they are not wrap around, which I'd like.
Two pairs, clear and sunny would be ideal.
Budget? £100-200.

Do you want wraparounds with RX inserts, or something like Oakley with prescription lenses? High street opticians aren't suitable, they don't supply or over charge for this. Get your eyes tested on the High Street and then purchase online.
I recently paid £115 for some Oakley frames with Transitions lenses, can be used in all conditions. Similar thing from Vision Express several years ago cost me more than double.

To be clear, these are the first glasses I will have for cycling, only recently started to struggle with seeing detail on the tracks and in the woods. Same with driving, only recently started to wear my normal glasses for driving, still have to take them off and on.
Problem is I need to make sure they are right for me, so ideally I need somewhere I can go back to if they are not suitable. I've really struggled to get normal glasses right first time, I have three different pairs for different activities, none of them I could cycle with.

You can get the frames from a specialist and get them glazed on the high street.
I have the ones that come with 3 lenses, clear, tint and low level so they have the lenses as an insert so they can be glazed anywhere. Main problem is that it’s hard to get lenses that will take varifocals due to the compact size of the inserts.

Recently bought a pair online from Optilabs, there is a thread on here where I asked the same question that I must update.
I should wear bifocals but they aggravate a spinal problem so I wear my distance prescription for everything but reading (wear none) and the cycling specs are the same. All I struggle with is seeing the Garmin but I have the same problem with my normal specs.
I was concerned about how the get the lens placement right and spoke to one of their opticians before ordering. They arrived early August and have done a few hundred miles in either the dark or yellow lenses so far with no issues and no regrets.
They give far more protection from the wind.

For Oakleys with prescription lenses you are looking at £300+
I have recently looked into this, Extreme eye wear were helpful I phoned them up and spoke to the guy for a fair while
I was after some sports glasses with prescription frames but have decided I don't want to spend nearly £400 and I don't want the inserts, so looks like I am sticking with normal old glasses.

Are disposable contact lenses an option? then you can have whatever sunglasses you fancy.
Not really thought about contacts. Not sure they will work for me.Over the last 10 years I've gone from no glasses, to weak readers, to stronger prescription readers, to now needing glasses full time. I'm using my old readers for normal/full time use and my newer readers for reading/laptop, I also have a stronger pair for close-up stuff.
I've tried varifocals but didn't get on with them, maybe it's time to try them again.

Sounds like you need to find a decent optician first of all, don't bother with the high street chains and seek out an established independent. Get the prescription right and then move from there.
I think I'll go down this route, at least with a proper prescription I can order online. https://www.theglassescompany.co.uk/
£56 for the Oakley frame (before discount), rest was for 'Silver' lens package with Transitions tint and a 'distance' prescription.
Buy Oakley frames with their own lenses and you'll pay £300+.

Thanks for that link, could do with some new specs as the lens coating is starting to fail on mine. Are they defo genuine Oakley frames? rough price for what I'd want is £220 on there, doubt I'd get much change from £500 a the moment from my local indie optician.£56 for the Oakley frame (before discount), rest was for 'Silver' lens package with Transitions tint and a 'distance' prescription.
