What do you run? Nights are drawing in and I want to continue with evening rides

Seems the exposure diablo mk11 comes well recommended but out of stock suprise suprise.

Anything else I should consider? Dont mind external battery packs and I am looking to get 3 hours out of it even if it means dimming it when on a fire road.

I asked Exposure about availability issues with road lights earlier this week. They said the 2021 range is due for launch in September, hence some models are out of stock or EOL. Two models I asked about were the Switch (discontinued) & Sirius (upgraded for 2021).

I expect the same could apply to MTB lights.

Ive ran loads of different lights over the year and ended up with Exposure kit. Wouldnt use anything else now, youll have ots of people givimg you diferent set ups that are a lot cheaper and maybe brighter but I dont think you can fault the kit. Light, brgith, no cables and if you need to use them, the cust service is brilliant. My Diablo would not turn off, it was 6 months out of warrranty. I sent it back and it was returned 4 days later fixed free of charge. Top buch!

I run the cheap crees with an upgraded battery pack

Every year I think I'll upgrade but never get round to it

They work well for price, would see you through to Exposure are back in stock

My commute is 15 miles of pitch black empty country lanes, paths through an ancient forest and gravel old railway lines

They do work better offroad than on

I would take a look at Four4th lights as well. They are very well made and have some of the best power outputs v run times. I have one of their original 1200 lumen helmet lights from 10 years ago which is still going strong (I run a Holy Moses on the bars as well) and they have an excellent cable-free option too.

Looked at those, quite tempted.

I've bought a mk10 six pack sync. Worried it'll be too bright for the road even on lower settings due to the spread so I've got my eye on the diablo which I rekon I can use on helmet and on my road bike.

I've had a £30 Chinese Cree light with external battery pack and dodgy-looking charger which lasted 3 years of daily use on winter commutes plus off-road night riding. Didn't even burn my house down when charging overnight.
I might have been one of the lucky ones.

I now use Exposure for MTB rides.

No cables or battery packs. Solid. Reliable.

A Mk2 Toro lasted 7 years but after that, battery wasn't holding charge for very long (1.5 hours ish) so contacted Exposure and traded it in with a few extra £'s sent for a current Toro.
More than enough for my 3-times-a-week MTB rides throughout all weathers in the winter.

I do swap this over to my Gravel bike for road-commutes, but point it down a fair bit and keep it on Low power to avoid dazzling oncoming cars.

I also run an Exposure Equinox (don't think they do these any more) on the helmet. A bit brighter than a Diabolo, plus comes with a bar-mounted wireless switch which is handy.

Toro and Equinox on Full will get you riding just as quickly as you would during the day.

Sometimes use a piggy-back battery on the helmet for the Equinox when the 2hr burn-time on full isn't quite enough for some longer rides I do.

I've ridden with a 6-Pack a few times too. Max mode is a silly amount of light. One ride I did, my mate behind had a 6-Pack on full and I forgot to turn my lights on for a mile or two of flat-ish riding through the woods as I didn't need them!!! So much light from behind!
Drop it down a few modes an the burn-time will get you round some very long rides.

Out of the 45 or so I regularly ride with from the club at night, a majority use Exposure and nobody grumbles about them (once they've forgotten the initial outlay £'s).

I have just picked up a Holy Moses and OMG. Great service and great performance. The bar mount is really good.
