Been into our local Halfords this morning to buy 2 new Voodoo Bizango bikes for my kids, they have virtually no bikes in store at all!

Sized them up on a Boardman & came home to order online, intending to sign up to British Cycling (£20 membership at the moment by the look of it) and save £135.00 - no option on their website to enter promo/discount code. I rang their helpline to be told the discount can only be applied retrospectively & refund applied to my card when I go to collect the bikes in store in about a weeks time - this can't be right surely?!

Also, if the BC card hasn't come through by then, will they honour the discount from the confirmation email as the helplne lady told me they 'probably' would?

Expected better from a household name to be honest!

I wouldn’t say Halfords is a byword for quality customer service usually.

There is a huge shortage of bikes at the moment given huge uptake during lockdown and lack of supply from China etc.

Yep massive restriction on supply, people have contacted me looking for bikes due to no supply, I've sourced second hand bikes for them mainly from gumtree. Its been pretty easy and most will be using them as a stop gap.

Ive bought at least 5 bikes from Halfords over the years (not recently though) and I always "ordered" online, but reserved to collect and pay at the store - and there you slap your BC discount code down and watch the spotty oik try and work out 10%. Is that no longer an option?

Also, before you place the order/reservation, go through Quidco to get another few quid cashback.
