Anyone doing the Prudential 100 this year?

I had a spot for the actual event which was cancelled but now that they have opened it up "virtually" am still thinking of doing it - just trying to figure out a decent route, etc. Was really looking forward to the crowds and open roads so potentially doing it alone with traffic etc etc isn't as appealing but am still keen as a personal challenge.

If anyone has any decent routes around West London let me know - was thinking of finding a decent 20/30 mile loop that I can do 4/5 times and use my car as a refuelling station for each loop.

I’m doing it as a British cycling ‘ride Social’. Bubbles of 6 riders, Socially distanced ( of course). I have a route which is pretty close, but excludes the East tunnel up by the Olympic park, the Limehouse link tunnel, and the A40 at Hammersmith ( it uses the Hammersmith bridge instead) it also avoids the wrong way up the one way bit at Bull hill in Leatherhead. I’ll put it up on the www.letsride website this week. I’ve done it before, it works well. Mind you, the weather forecast is ste at the moment, so we’ll see.

Well I’ve decided to bite the bullet and set a ride up.

It’s an 09:00 start from the Velodrome. I plotted and rode this route a couple of weeks before the event last year, and it worked fine. I may have to think on my feet on the section at Hammersmith, because the bridge has just been completely closed, due to damage caused by last week’s heatwave. However, fortune favours the brave. I’m currently on a train, with my bike, on the way to the hotel I booked, earlier in the year.

I've tried various routes in West London and the one that works best for the mileage you need is to head up to the Tower bridge and back. I live in Isleworth so cycle up to Hammersmith via Brentford and then towards Putney bridge. I turn left before the bridge and towards Chelsea and all the way to the City via Embankment. The return covers around 30 miles and then on the return I go to Richmond via Barnes and Sheen road, after turnig left on Putney bridge returning from the City. That's around 40 miles and you can do one loop of Richmond park if you feel up to it.

This is my facsimile route. It comes up as 98 miles, but the ride from the hotel to the Velodrome takes it over 100.

Sounds like it'll be game over for the R100 in traditional format. Decision due on 27 Oct

Meh, that was inevitable, given the loss of worlds status.

Classic short-sightedness from councils.

Classic NIMBY behavior unfortunately and not unsurprising. I do hear that some people in London complain a lot with Marathon, Tri and Ridelondon all closing roads but anyone can live with once per year, you just need to get organized.

I generally find that the residents around the hills are really okay with cyclists. The only time I had any sorts of issue was out by Walton. Someone got the hump because I wasn’t using the ( inadequate) shared path. I thought he was going to have a heart attack, he was ranting and raving so much.
