Garmin Servers down
Discussion
For the last 24h. Not just their “Connect” servers but apparently ALL of their tech infrastructure (forums, phones etc). Plenty of internet speculation but no concrete information.
This will be very upsetting for all those with OCD-like tendencies where exercise and health data is concerned..!

Arrrrrgh!
126 miles yesterday, Recorded on a Garmin Forerunner watch. Only way to upload data is via ANT+ to/through the Express server then it syncs to Connect, and only then can I see the data in Strava and VeloViewer. It's incredibly frustrating. What's making it worse is that uploads of large data files from the watch have been sketchy enough lately. I've lost another 200 km ride just last week. So I've done some "spring cleaning" of files and folders and this ride was supposed to be a test of whether my fixes have fixed the issues.
Grrrrr!

Do we know if rides uploaded will appear on Garmin after they resolve the issues, or will they be lost forever?
Does't look like rides are uploading at all, the app is unable to contact the Garmin servers (because they off!) rides should still be stored on you Garmin device. Once they're back up and running all rides should upload as normal.jfdi said:

Any way of getting them off the Garmin directly to Strava ? not that I'm hugely bothered....... honest I'm not............... They've effectively shut down.
Production stopped, no call centres, no electronic contact with outside world, even the the FlyGarmin nav stuff down.
Looks a bit like honda's problems from a few weeks ago.
Don't expect anything for a couple of days;

My old Forerunner 410 doesn't do USB. It uses an ant+ dongle and I can't find any software that will allow me to access the files.
My Edge bike device files can be accessed via USB.
Same here...My Edge bike device files can be accessed via USB.
Edge 500 uploads OK straight to Strava via USB cable.
ForeRunner 910XT won't share data without being connected to Garmin Express, and therefore can't sync to Garmin Connect, and then to Strava, because the ANT+ connection can't be made other than through Garmin's site.
Like so much tech that proclaims it's greatness by eschewing "olde worlde" cable connections, the ForeRunner watches, among others, are showing their weakness now that Garmin's servers are unavailable. It might not be "cool", but sometimes plugging your device into a desk top PC or laptop really IS the answer to simple, reliable data transfer...
