Silly electric question?

Considering buying an electric bike. Noted that in the UK, speed is limited to just over 15mph. If I wish to travel at 20mph, do I only need to pedal at the extra 5mph pace? Does the electic motor cut out at the 15mph, meaning I have to put the full 20mph effort into moving?

I have a turbo Levo and it is probably one of the best for getting over the 15 limit it is rather good I assume the motor is cut out at 15 because you can feel it come in and out if you don’t keep it above the limit..
I have recently hacked/changed the wheel circumference And it seems way better as it doesn’t really shut off now but I’ve not had much time on it since but the gearing seems to limit me now Instead I think (19/20mph)

Yes, by law the motor can only assist to 15.5 mph.

The motor cuts out at 15mph but you can go faster if you pedal. If you are going to be cycling at 15mph+ a lot you are carrying extra weight for nothing.

Thanks for your replies. I'll have to have a few test rides, assuming there are some available. I suppose there's a shortage during these present times.
