Hi all pedal powered PH.

I haven't been in these parts since my bike got nicked about 6 month ago and was never seen again.

Anyway, the time has come to look for a baby seat for out 14 month old son he can enjoy going on a bike ride and the wind in his hair. So any advice on what to get?

I am looking at a front mounted one rather than over the back wheel just because I know he will be trying to look around my back and see where we are going.

I was thinking of something like this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FMM56P0/ref=cm_sw_r...

What have others used in the past?

Thanks all

I have the kids ride shotgun seat and bars, fits on my enduro bike and is very well made.

We've got a Thule Yepp Nexxt Mini which I really like: https://enduro-mtb.com/en/thule-yepp-nexxt-mini-ch...

The little one seems to really love it and she's pretty secure in there. The harness is magnetic which is great too.

I think something like the kids ride shotgun is good from about two years old. I had my daughter in a similar seat around her second birthday, I think they're better off road, and don't weigh as much. Daughter enjoys holding the handlebars.

I think the yelp minin is a good seat for the current age.

Thanks. The kids ride shotgun I think is a bit advanced for him at the moment. Need one to strap him in so he can't roll off.

The Thule looks ideal will have a serious look at that thanks.

OP, I have exactly the seat you've linked to. Its absolutely fine.

Front mounted issues I've had:

It limits the steering slightly because the forks hot the seat. Not a serious issue.

The brake cables occasionally catch. A proper solution is to make the cable run longer from lever to cable stop. I've not bothered and it's been ok.

I now have someone else to steer for me, remove my gloves, hand me their helmet and move their massive melon head about to make me crash. Again, mostly ok.

I was recommended the Weeride on here from 12 months on and it's been great, rock solid. Mounts on the seat post and steering post, above the top tube, so no real impact on steering. 3 years old and 18kg and still going strong in it. It's only really limited by when they're too tall for you to lean over the top of them!

I've got a Weeride here that's surplus to requirements as both mine are too tall for it now, drop me a pm if you're interested smile

Thanks all for the advice, and thanks for the offer lufbramatt.

I mentioned on passing to my parents on what we were thinking about and low and behold the next day a thule yepp mini arrived on the door step!

We had our first little outing yesterday when I got back from work and I think it's a winner. Seems to enjoy pinging the bell on the handlebars as well!
