Slightly odd question but figured someone might know. I'm looking for a rear mounted child seat to take my nearly 3 year old out and about. She's just over 15kg, so within the limits (most go to 22kg) - but she is tall for her age and I'm worried the shoulder straps might be too low. This doesn't seem to be a measurement you can get from any of the bike shops online or the seat manufacturers. At the moment I cant exactly drag her into a bike shop for a try! Shes 97cm tall which I think is getting close to the limit for trailers as well (which I'm less keen on....)

Thanks

Trailers are good if you are on shared paths, I share the concern with roads, even quiet ones, I used a big f-off flag and still didn’t like it even on residential roads. we had a burley bee though as there are loads of cycle paths here which was great as you can fit teddies, books and stuff in it. We also had a Hamax sleepy Seat which was great but at nearly a metre tall, it may be a bit cramped.

Hi, my 4year old is c 104-105 cm tall, 15.8kg, in a hamax rear seat (the one that reclines) and fit fine.
The only thing to watch is clearance with back wheel, as when we go over a big bump on my hard tail MTB, the seat can temporarily "ground out" for a second on the wheel..

I don't use a car on a daily basis (I imagine i'll get thrown off here for that...) - I cycle to work and 2 days a week I take my son with me, to the nursery. I use a Yepp seat (like this https://hollandbikeshop.com/en-gb/bicycle-seat/yep... - in my case mounted on the solid rear rack of a Batavus 'dutch bike' - but it looks like you can get seat tube mount ones too.

It's already served my first son, until he was 4 and 3 months, and currently is on son #2 - 3 and a half. I've just measured from seat base (at the back) to the top harness slot - and it's 38cm, and theres' plenty of spare belt to allow it to run up and over the shoulders. Can't get son #2 to stand still so I can measure his height!

I'd definitely recommend a Yepp, really nice quality.
