Lady bike

My 5’7” wife wants to join the kids and me on our bike rides. She is the very essence of 40 year old beginner. But, we don’t want to buy a bike that will limit her if she takes to it.

Kids are 6&8 so the trails we ride are not challenging so we just need a good XC.

What are your thoughts? Bike will be bought in the US and budget up to $1200 (not fixed. A little arbitrary but you were going to ask )

I'd be looking mainstream bikes , such as Trek for a reasonable bike, as common to get hold of in the states. They also do women versions , which is worth getting one to fit her correctly , to give confidence and hope to keep the enthusiasm.
