SLX front shifter advice

I've built up a flat bar 1X 11 with rim brakes.
The rear mech is an SLX M7000 and everything is good except for the positioning/action of the shifter. I have heard that a popular upgrade is to change the shifter for a model higher up in the Shimano range.
When I look at XT 11 speed shifters, there are a few band-on models, but I'm unsure if this will improve the positioning.
I'm thinking I need to go for a brake lever mounted pod, but do not know which levers will work with the M7000 11 speed with cable brakes.
Please can anyone point me to suitable brake+shifter lever for flat bar 11 speed?
