Have done some research online and seems that I am finding myself pushed towards the Saris Bones 3 (Halfords or equivalent site) as probably the best rear mounted 3 bike carrier for our Nissan. We dont have a tow bar and to be honest want to avoid having to get one. The Saris is £145 there or thereabouts, has anyone tried an alternative? I have seen Thule with their premium pricing but looking for something priced the same or lower than the Saris one. Just checking potential alternatives before I pull the trigger!

I have the same scenario when hunting for a bike rack (3 bikes and a Qashqai or Golf to mount them on, neither with tow bars) and I have ended up at the conclusion of the Saris Bones 3. I have been trying to decide whether the "SuperBones" is worth nearly double as much. Reviews suggest they have addressed some of the ease of use issues with the original, and made it slicker and easier to operate and switch between vehicles. But it is twice as much!

Is there any way to improve the security of those? If someone passing simply loosened the straps could they have it away?

And presumably you’d need a light board given it covers the plate and wheels obscure lights?
