I used to be right into mountain biking in the 90s, but gave up when I got my motorbike licence and only had so much leisure time with working 6 days, buying a house, getting married etc so I am not up to speed on what is available and decent now, things have changed a lot. I have a whistle miwock 1483d that I bought used, cheap and ratty, I have tidied it up a bit and fitted an ebike conversion kit, now the cable brakes are decent but a lot of people are saying hydraulic is much better. are there any cheap hydrailic calipers that would be a worthwhile upgrade, bearing in mind its a £100 bike? I remember fitting magura hyrdaulic rim brakes to my kona cinder cone and it was far superior.
After a days riding my balls and arse always ache despite having a gel seat and a gel seat cover, and I dont enjoy that, would a suspension seatpost help and are there any decent budget/midrange ones?

I’ve got one of these Suntour Suspension Posts for my hardtail e-bike. Makes a big difference.

Charge Spoon gets recommended as a good (value) saddle.

I have a Brooks B17 on mine. Brooks Cambium are also recommended.

If your bike has cable discs then hydraulics would be a good upgrade - not something I‘ve ever done so can’t advise, sorry.

Recommend any Shimano hydraulics , even from the lower ranges. Cables are not great for disc brakes on an MTB. Such as deores. Have them on my hardcore hardtail and have never had any issues. Have XT's and SLX's on oher bikes and the power is the same, just you have easier lever adjustments and a little lighter, but not much.

Easy to fit and can cut hoses without the need for bleeding. You may need some adaptors depending on the fork leg and disc sizes.

Thanks guys, just been out for a blast and today was the first day I upgraded my battery wires and got to use the full 1500w and I have decided to spend a bit on the suntour, and my budget for brakes went up too eek
I currently have 160mm disks, if I go bigger how do I move the calipers to suit, are there spacer kits? the frame and fork mounts are fixed.

As said above, you may need some adaptors to suit discs. If you buy larger discs, then buy the appropriate adaptors. The rear is an IS standard, so you will need an IS to 180mm rear adaptor. Not sure on what you have on the front of fixing. You either have to holes similar to the rear , which is I.S ( industry standard) or 2 square lugs sticking out, which is 'post' . So, if you have IS on the front, then you want IS to 180mm front. The front and rears arent quite the same.

A mate of mine has recently fitted a cane creek thudbuster to his hardtail emtb, he's very impressed with it, I had a go on it and it does seem to work quite well. They are a bit pricey compared to others though.

I've got one on my hardtail ebike too. Recommended. It's fully adjustable to suit your weight.

Been trawling for a 31.6 suntour sp12-ncx and no stock anywhere in the UK I can find. are the ones on ebay from china likely fake?
Anyone know anywhere that has stock?
EDIT never mind, pedal power cycles reckon they can have one in in a few days.

Going to do a big brake conversion, then put my brakes on my mrs bike, which perform better than the ones she has.

Enjoying this cheap ebike so much I might end up selling my Yamaha WR and eventually transfer my ebike kit onto a decent downhill bike.
