Due to Covid - Race Across America (RAAM) and it's smaller sibling Race Across the West (RAW) were both cancelled this year, the first time in its 39 year history.

The organisers, in conjunction with the team at Revolve 24 Aus have sought to put on an online version, using FulgGaz - there's 60 min per day for 12 days, the 925 miles of RAW and the big boy 3000 miles of RAAM - both with a 12 day cut off.

I do a lot of my 24hr training on the turbo - and am obliged to take a certain amount of holiday before the end of June - so on the 16th will be getting on the Turbo for my longest session yet - the 925 miles of RAW (probably more ways than one).

For those who aren't familiar - FulGaz uses 4k videos of actual rides, rather than virtual etc. Obviously they don't have the full RAAM route, so they've put together stages from the library plus a few others to produce routes that follow the profile of the real route.

They've also got a 'dot-watching' setup - so every 60 seconds, the rider data (power, distance, HR) are sent back to their base in Aus and then riders' virtual position on the route is plotted on the RAAM routemap.

As a staunch Zwifter I haven't used FulGaz beofre. First impressions are it doesn't seem quite as user friendly as Zwift, and I think the Strava upload is going to end up being about 150 'stages' rather than a single ride, which is a shame!

I'll share a link to the dot watching during, and some pictrure updates during, if anyone is interested?

If not I'll delete this post and pretend like nothing ever happened laugh
