Budget Smart Trainer

Is anyone using a smart turbo trainer type arrangement?

It seems a minefield (lets put aside that I cant get one for love or money just now). Basically because of the weather up here and I need to be able to ride indoors and it seems the way forward is a smart trainer. I have rollers which are fine but be nice to let an app control what is going on.

Are there any recommended "budget" trainers for less than £400 anyone would recommend? I suspect I want something that adjusts difficulty in line with the program I am signed up to.

I have a TacX Vortex. It was £185 from Halfords when I got it and is wheel on. It's decent connects to Zwift etc no problem but it can only produce inclines to around 8% I believe.
