I want to get a boot mounted bike rack for family excursions and we also need to look at getting my wife a bike.

I am looking at something like the Saris Bones 3 rack.

Bike stock levels are very limited, but one we are considering is the Trek Marlin 5 Womens.

Will a bike with a bent top tube like this fit onto a top tube mounting bike rack? The frame would be an extra small, if that makes a difference.

The other bike we are considering is the Boardman Womens MTX 8.6 Hybrid, which has a conventional top tube, but is £100 more and my wife doesn't really need any more bike than the trek.

You can buy a brace which fits between seatpost and bars, and then you mount that on the bike rack. Almost like a false top tube.

You will need a bike beam, it is a tube that goes between the stem and seat tube, and allows you fit that type of frame onto a Bones rack.

Thanks both! Didn't know such a thing existed.

Its ended up being a moot point as we went for the Boardman Hybrid, EVERYTHING else turned out to be out of stock in the required size. Bike manufacturers and retailers must be making a killing on bike sales at the moment.
