Info about my old bike?

Hi, my ancient "Gent's Racer" was been retired for a long time, ever since the Positron solid cable broke, and proved difficult to replace.
The labels says " cycles Gottfried of France" and "Fabrication Francaise". the handlebar stem is PIVO, (probably not the most reliable...)
The 10 speed shifters are on the stem.
I suspect it's a low-end relic of the 1970's cycling boom, and a bit of a rattly old bone-shaker TBH, but anyway, any knowledge gratefully received.
