Hi
I’m trying to buy 2x CUBE eMTB for wife and myself. Local CUBE shop says none of spec/size we want available, nor expected. I also can’t find 2 online. But Bikester.co.uk have them online, plus a small discount on list. They estimate 14d delivery. The bikes will be supplied from Germany. I’m fine with the EU/UK brake difference.
Has anyone any recent bike buying experience of using them? Online reviews seem mixed?
Many thanks,
Q

I've bought loads of bike parts and clothes off them last year or so. Always cheaper than UK, but postage can take a week or 2 even before the world went mad. Never bought bikes from them though. Cube is German so can you buy direct?

FWIW - I was doing the same as you this week - Cube eMTB's and clogging up PH to all, asking how / where to source.

I saw Bikester too and had a look, asked them a question via FB.

I ended up sourcing (I hope..... delivery due this week) from https://www.racecouk.com

Rang them up with what I wanted, one in stock, one coming from the factory and was willing to do a deal on some discount (15%) and some mudgurads etc....

I’ve not seen any option to order direct from CUBE?

Did Bikester reply to your FB msg?

Sorry -a rushed message / interference from daughter with my earlier Post?

I went through https://www.racecouk.com - they had one in stoick, sourced / sourcing the other direct - will deliver both to me this week.

So despite the very mixed reviews, I ordered from Bikester.co.uk last night. They were the only place who confirmed both bikes in stock. But delivery expected to be 2 weeks. Used credit card so the money should ultimately be protected.

I was goi g to do the same tbh - did you speak to them / negotiate anything for two ? Or just click and pay?

Now the tough bit. Waiting two chuffing weeks. I hope you get lucky and riding, it will be interesting to compare deliveries to the bikes I ordered as above on Wednesday.

Enjoy!

FB msg to confirm they had both bikes in stock. But then just clicked and paid, although both bikes listed -6%. Local CUBE shop indicated -10% max, but couldn’t supply! I suspect better could have been achieved under normal circumstances, but I’d been looking for last couple weeks and not found any option to get both bikes. I’ll update.

I’ve had my Kathmandu for about a month, bought from bikester.

Didn’t want to deal with such a remote entity, but if no one else has what you want in stock, what can you do?

Had no real problems, apart from having to switch the brake levers over to fit in with UK convention, but YouTube showed me how to do it.

Also, the rear light had been wired too tight, so was cutting out. Had a little tinker and got it sorted. Not worth bothering them with it.

But everything arrived as I would expect. Run of the mill online purchase.

I live in Switzerland and have used Bikester a few times - legit company and often have some good deals. Delivery a bit further for you but I’m sure it’ll be fine

I thought bikester.co.uk would probably be okay as I have ordered multiple items from fc-moto.de with no issues and thought a German company probably pretty well organised.

In fact they have been the worst online retailer I've ever dealt with. 8 weeks since ordering and I still haven't received my goods. I got one small items but not the main bits (a tyre, repair kit and tube). I have received someone else's tyres. His address is about 15 miles away with no similarity of name or address.

Their email customer services is useless. They takes days or even a week to reply.

I've asked for my money back now.

Earlier this year before all the covid I got some trousers. Slow to deliver but was expected as from Germany. Also returned to them which took a while that was expected. No issues though

I bought my daughter's bike from them, a few weeks into lockdown and they claimed 4 days delivery. 8 weeks in the end.

They were terrible to deal with, rarely reply to emails and no one on the phone. Blamed the courier, but I could see that the order wasn't dispatched as I had the tracking details.

On top of that it annoyed me that a German company is using a .co.uk address to sell from, because returning items under Distance Selling becomes much more difficult and expensive.

Wouldn't use them again.

I’ve used them before for relatively obscure bits I was finding it hard to source in the UK. They’ve been fine - slow delivery compare to Wiggle, etc, but no other problems.

I had no prior experience of Bikester but they don’t appear to have handled the C19 situation very well. I cancelled my order with them for the 2 bikes. I actually only wanted to change the size of one, but that really exposed their poor communication and inefficient system. Facebook worked best, but I also copied to their email address and their online message system. Every comm was eventually replied, but it took about 3 days each time. It turned out they couldn’t change my ordered size. Their process was that I had to cancel both bikes and re-order! That took 3 days, then 3 days to get cash back to my credit card, then my preferred size was no longer available, so I walked away. But I got my money back OK, so they are still OK with me.
But, and probably for a different thread, I then ordered the 2 bikes from Evans..... just don’t, absolutely dreadful, incompetent experience.
But maybe the C19 situation is an unfair test.

I ordered shoes from them during a summer sale last year, 25% off everything I think, they were a very good price. I got an email "sorry we are actually out of stock but will have them back in stock soon", I asked them to hold the order open and ship when they are in, nope they couldn't do that. I asked how I could get them at the advertised price since the sale was over, they said tough. I the noticed (2 days later) that the shoes were now in stock and asked for those to be shipped at the price, they said no. I pointed out some EU arbitration law and suggested we could try that, and then said I could reorder and refunded me the difference.

They were delievered in a warehousing bag with a label with a stock received date several weeks prior to my order, implying that they had specifically cancelled orders they didn't want to fulfill.

As someone has said above - a bit disingenuous in using a co.uk website.

Glad I jogged on when I was looking to order 2 x eMTBs / Cubes
