Son has outgrown his Islabike Beinn 26, wife has taken it over. Would get a Beinn 29 but they are pretty rare second hand.
He's no Wiggins/Froome, a basic bike would suit him (hybrid?) can't see the need for suspension, a light frame and easy controls would be best, decent tyres, twist grip gears? Mostly cycle tracks and country lanes, pot holes and gravelly bits.
What's the best option as an alternative to the Beinn 29?

Frog bikes?

Think it has been commented here before, 9/10ths the capability of a Isla for 3/4s the price. We've both in our garage and no kid on a Frog feels hard done by. Only thing i could think against them would be the brand might be a bit youngish for a teen but defo good light bikes - check out the 69-78 hyrbids

Pinnacle from Evans are good bikes and a Neon 2 is a fair bit cheaper than the comparable Islabikes. For kids I’d always say Islabike or Frog just because the design is so good and well considered for short arms and legs but if he is looking at a 29, a Pinnacle Neon does the same job without the brand premium.
