Your post reads like you are wearing under wear under your bib shorts?

Stop wearing underwear.

Bib shorts +1

if you're self conscious just wear baggies over the top. Although I just find the extra layer of fabric makes things uncomfortable.

I can't imagine anyone ever goes back to normal shorts after trying bib shorts.

Padded under shorts with elasticated thigh grippers, although I still have to rearrange the Crown Jewels every 30 mins or so.

I remember coming back to cycling and thinking, I am not wearing that stuff, no way !

Took a month or so and bought my first bib shorts, people think its some affectation for performance or whatever, its not, its just comfortable and you dont spend all your time adjusting everything.

I saw a few new cyclists out, one on the usual 99 quid mtb in cargo shorts with enough arse crack on display to be fairly convinced that his Rusty Sheriffs Badge/Barking Spider was visible had I not averted my gaze.

I find that I can wear them and not be self conscious at any time, unless that is I move away from my bicycle, the further from said velocipede I move the greater my realisation I am wearing skin tight, very thin, figure hugging material with no undergarments, sometimes I may forget if distracted and then realise I am in a shop with my shrink wrapped genitals on display.

Also, ladies tend to struggle not to look, not suggesting they are interested but its perhaps the same mechanism which makes people rubberneck on motorways, cant help it. I remember getting changed for my commute home one summers day and one of the project managers appeared as i walked to the bike sheds, quite professional and proper she was but I was just bidding farewell to a mate and she stood there and I turned round and she was either having a butchers or miles away and happened to have her head down but she realised and went bright red made her excuses and left. She got pissed at the Christmas Do and mentioned it, admitted she got caught out but wasn't all that impressed biggrin

There is a bloke in our gym who wears Lycra, mainly I think to show off his equipment, have seen women clock it and then alert their mates to go and have a look, its bloody obscene !

I don’t know about you lot, but after ten minutes on the bike my junk has usually retreated from the scene as it were, and would impress nobody.

Glad someone else said it!

Especially on an early morning mid-winter ride!

It is possible to get lycra cycling shorts with the proper pad but no straps. Ten years ago they were more common, but I think a lot of people have decided that "proper" cycling shorts need shoulder straps, so simple padded lycra shorts have become harder to get.
In my experience, they do everything that bib shorts do just as well, but are free of the faffing about with straps.

They may work if you're a skinny rake, but I find my belly rolls over the top and it's uncomfortable, so bibs are better
